We are looking for a keen and conscientious proofreader, with an exceptional eye for detail and a passion for the written word.

Working within our Studio function, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of all our client work across mixed media, ensuring the accuracy of spelling, grammar and punctuation, whilst reviewing styling and formatting against brand and style guidelines and offering suggestions or recommendations to improve the work wherever possible.

You should be a great communicator, with a proactive, flexible attitude, and a responsive, collaborative approach, and have an aptitude for problem-solving and a desire to grow and develop.

The Studio serves our clients between 7am and 7pm, varying seasonally. You’ll be working flexibly within this operating window to support the later period, and working hours will change throughout the year to ensure we are providing the appropriate levels of support.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Proofread all client work across print and digital as requested by internal stakeholders, highlighting errors in spelling, grammar and punctuation as well as looking for consistency in styling, formatting and sequencing
  • Content check artwork outputs against the client’s supplied documents, checking for errors or omissions in the content against the originals
  • Sense check content and make recommendations for editing where appropriate and within the permissible parameters of the work
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of content within individual projects and across a suite of work;
    e.g. phrasing, URLs, page references, upper/lowercase, hyphenation, etc.
  • Ensure alignment of work to client style and brand guidelines
  • Provide excellent service to internal customers and clients, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in resolving queries and finding solutions to challenges
  • Liaise directly with clients as needed, providing support during project delivery
  • To work collaboratively with the team by both offering and seeking support, advice and insight in order to make every product we create better than its predecessor.

Required skills

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, with a degree in English or demonstrable equivalent experience, and at least 1 years’ experience in a copy-editing or proofreading role
  • Ability to concentrate for long periods whilst maintaining accuracy
  • Exceptional attention to detail with high-quality standards
  • Good organisational skills and a methodical working style
  • Able to work to tight deadlines, sometimes under pressure
  • Experienced in Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of Google Docs and Adobe InCopy is desirable but not essential
  • Energetic and self-motivated, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise own workload
  • Good collaboration skills, able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Proactive, forward-thinking and embracing of change and development
  • A problem solver with critical thinking skills, willing to challenge and be challenged, see the big picture.
