We are seeking a driven Account Manager, with at least 2 years experience, to support our growing client services team, as part of an effective growth and succession planning initiative.
The projects that we deliver for our clients are often active for up to 3 months (and sometimes longer). In the case of annual reports, these are our largest and most repeatable source of revenue. Our portfolio of clients is currently looked after by 3 Account Directors, with project delivery through a project manager, consultant, creative and artworking studio. Due to the nature of the relationships, we have with our clients (and the senior standing of those individuals) we are required to get very close to our clients and develop strong relationships.
As our organisation grows, along with the number of clients, our Account Directors will need support in growing sustainably. Currently, we have a requirement for an Account Manager to work with one of our Account Directors on their portfolio, assisting in the delivery of projects and the growth of existing and new accounts.
The goal for this position is to develop strong relationships across the portfolio and, in the medium term, take over this portfolio as an Account Director.

Our industry is incredibly technical in nature and our clients expect us to understand this. Our competitive advantage as an organisation is our thinking around the message and, whilst our consultancy team are primarily responsible for this, the best Account Managers and Account Directors come from this team. As a result, the successful candidate will spend a mandatory 4 to 6 months learning as part of our consultancy team. Probation will be passed, pending successful completion of learning and sign off from our Head of Consultancy and Commercial Director. This is to ensure that the successful candidate:
Has strong knowledge and understanding of investor relations and corporate communications before working with clients
Is better equipped to solve client challenges and commercialise those solutions
Is able to work with the team at a level of understanding commensurate with our competitive advantage
Our business is cyclical in its nature; a significant amount of our projects fall within a 7-month window, so the role will have a different focus at key points within the year.
Key responsibilities in the busy season are:
Delivering projects: responsible for client communication and client experience
Working with internal teams to ensure successful, smooth and timely delivery of projects
Learning how to design a critical project path with the client, with a view to fulfilling this requirement at project kick-offs
Ensuring that critical path is delivered and flexed where necessary
Championing the client within the business
Gaining intimate knowledge of our products and services
Ability to identify opportunities mid-project, e.g. products and services that could improve customer experience and increase scope
Quoting and invoicing in certain instances
Attending consultancy and design meetings (both internal and with the client) to ensure a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the client’s project
Outside of peak project delivery season:
Learning and development of commercial skills, negotiation and business development
Attending debriefs with Account Directors, improving relationships and retaining accounts
Attending new business meetings with the Account Directors
Developing client relationships with a view to taking ownership of accounts from the Account Director, to build their own portfolio
Keeping ahead of Investor Relations and Corporate trends that align with Jones and Palmer’s thought-leadership approach
Essential skills and qualifications
A minimum of 2 years’ B2B Account Management experience
A real hunger to learn. You must be a self-starter who will take the initiative and own your learning and development journey. The right candidate will be excited to take a 4 to 6-month learning journey with our consultancy team
You must have the confidence to ask the right questions and apply critical thinking to different internal and client scenarios
Exceptional communication skills both verbally and written: you must be able to communicate at all levels of an organisation
An ability to build strong interpersonal relationships, both with clients and delivery teams within Jones and Palmer
Strong organisational skills: you must be able to work to strict deadlines and negotiate timelines to ensure on-time delivery
An ability to listen to the client, and ask the right questions to understand their challenge
Adaptability: our industry is changing rapidly, as are our client’s needs. You will need to be able to adapt our approaches to dealing with clients and delivering projects
Excellent under pressure: although you will be a highly organised individual, you will understand how to maintain a solutions-focused approach and flex timelines with the client when required
A passion for business communication, and learning about all aspects of different industries and marketplaces
