Dragon Oil plc

It has been a pleasure working with Nick and Heather, and I look forward to building on that relationship in the future to take Dragon Oil’s communications to the next level. The new website design and content was extremely well received and as a result, following a competitive pitch process, Jones and Palmer seemed like the natural choice for our annual report.

Case Study

Dragon Oil plc is an independent oil development and production company operating oilfields located in the Caspian Sea.  They initially approached Jones and Palmer looking to obtain a corporate and investor relations website which needed to reflect the company brand and personality as well as providing timely data to shareholders. Following successful completion of this project, Jones and Palmer have pitched against other major suppliers for the production of their 2008 Annual Report. Dragon Oil have also picked Jones and Palmer to produce their Online Annual Report project.

A key feature of Jones and Palmer’s successful working with Dragon Oil has been the strong relationship of their investor relations officer with our account director.  Whilst Leanne is well aware of the strong team of dedicated investor communications staff available at Jones and Palmer, it is the one point of contact with Nick Fincher that ensures discussions and issues are co-ordinated to produce the right results.  This relationship has proved to be a strong foundation on which to build additional projects.

Working on the Dragon Oil website we provided technical advice to ensure that the new site would not only conform to best practice standards in terms of site structure, content and functionality, but surpass their requirements from a design perspective. The content management system and the navigational structure of the site ensure they can quickly and easily update the site themselves. This, combined with our investor relations experience, has proved extremely successful with Dragon Oil.

The annual report project has begun with initial benchmarking of the current report, reviewing against peer groups and full restructuring guidance, all inclusive in the quoted cost. This will produce a final report more representative of Dragon Oil’s business and development strategy. At this time of financial instability, Jones and Palmer were keen to demonstrate the exceptionally high standard of the products we offer at the most competitive cost. Working with Jones and Palmer also brings the additional bonus of no outsourcing in the production process. As account director, Nick oversees and ensures the final product is finished to the highest standards he demands for his clients.  Photography has been commissioned in Turkmenistan with the project management and art direction co-ordinated by Jones and Palmer, in anticipation of the conceptual ideas for the project.

The impact of the Company Act changed the way Dragon Oil looked at electronic communications. Jones and Palmer will be producing a state of the art online annual report, encompassing their branding themes throughout, to improve and broaden their investor communications. As an electronic simile of the printed annual report document, the project will need minimal additional involvement from Dragon Oil and will be project managed to launch on the same day as the posting of the printed version.

In addition to the complete service offering adopted to date, we have also been discussing how we can help Dragon Oil with other shareholder communications including investor roadshows. We are delighted with the work we have done to date and will continue to develop with Dragon Oil as a key member of the Jones and Palmer global client portfolio.
